As we ease into the cooler months of the year in Southwest Florida, we definitely encourage our guests to get outside and explore. If you’ve already kayaked, shopped, swam, lounged and hiked to your hearts content, we recommend heading downtown to the edge of the waterfront for Ostego Bay Foundation’s Working Waterfront Tour. The three-hour guided tour starts at the Science Center where you will be taken back through the history of both industry and our local Fort Myers Beach ecosystems through interesting and insightful exhibits. After an hour and a half, the tour continues along with a visit to local commercial fishing industry docks, including the Erickson & Jensen Supply House, Trico Shrimp loading dock and Beach Seafood. Learn more about how the fishing boats are unloaded, how trawl doors are built, how shrimp nets are meticulously sewn by hand, how delicious and fresh seafood is processed and anything else you ever may have wanted to know about fishing and eating fish in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes and to bring a camera or smartphone to snap some one of a kind shots!

The cost of the tour is $15.00 per adult and $10.00 for children over 6 years of age.

Tours are every Wednesday morning in season, please call for reservations and scheduling at the telephone number, (239)765-8101.

For 24 years, The Ostego Bay Foundation Marine Science Center has provided Fort Myers Beach with a Marine Science Experience through interactive exhibits, aquarium’s, touch tank, one of kind collections and unique displays.
