Like the snowbirds that flock to the Fort Myers Beach area for warm weather and sunny skies during the winter, there are a number of major sports teams that take advantage of Southwest Florida’s gorgeous winter and spring temperatures.

Fort Myers, located just on the other side of our beloved bridge is the off seasonal home for two major league baseball teams, the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox. Not only can Beach Shell inn guests enjoy the sand and sun, they can also experience the thrill of the game just a few miles away from our property.

The Minnesota Twins train during the springtime months at CenturyLink Sports Complex, a state of the art baseball stadium with renovations that were completed in February 2015. Join the Twins this year to celebrate their 26th spring training season in the Florida Sunshine. Cheer the team on with a cold drink, Cracker Jacks and your favorite Minnesota fare. The Boston Red Sox, one of the MLB’s most beloved teams also calls Fort Myers home. Make some time to swing by Jet Blue Park, also known as Fenway South and cheer on the Sox. As expected, Jet Blue Park is home to the second “Green Monster”, with seating above and behind the manual scoreboard. Environmentally sustainable, The Red Sox’s Florida home is one of the most visited attractions in the area, especially when the team is in town.
